Oyegun to be removed as APC Chairman soon – Report

There are indications that a National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu is secretly working with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal to remove the party’s National Leader, John Oyegun, Vanguard reports.

This was as the report said bigwigs of the party are prevailing on President Muhammadu Buhari to name Oyegun as Ambassador.

Oyegun was said to have angered those at the echelon following his handling of the party’s governorship primary election which saw the emergence of former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Rotimi Akeredolu.

Following Akeredolu’s emergence, Tinubu had demanded the immediate resignation of Oyegun.

Another alleged offense committed by Oyegun was the party’s insistence to pick Yahaya Bello over Abiodun Faleke, as its governorship candidate in Kogi State after the demise of Prince Abubakar Audu.

However, the SGF while reacting to the alleged plot to make Oyegun an Ambassador, said such appointments are the prerogative of the President.

Lawal said, “I do not know anything about the chairman’s ambassadorial as such are made by the president. Did you see his name on the list read out on the floor of the Senate?”

Recall that Oyegun had recently alleged that those against his continued stay as National Chairman of APC were politicians scheming to take over control of the party ahead of the 2019 elections.
