Nudes, Today’s Rave or An Avoidable Nuisance?
If you have a social media account, you might have received the strange request via a direct message, send me nudes.
There’s little doubt as to how social networks have changed the dynamics of interpersonal relationships. The instant nature of social media interactions lulls us into a sense of closeness with other users- this is not always a bad thing.
Social networks have taught us new things and brings out in most people a need to fit in. Sometimes, fitting in means conforming to things which you usually would not.
The new school cool trends are upon us and sending nudes is a rising trend. The sharing of a person’s unclad pictures casually with friends or fellow social media users is a trendy idea and many people have failed to understand that it requires a great deal of trust.
Sometimes, unclad pictures are the beginning of amorphous relationships and the articles of revenge when such relationships turn sour.
Most times, one falls victim to blackmail from either a third party who claims to have stumbled on them or the same person she shared them with. In fact, it has become a vicious cycle on Twitter, where an argument between two users leads an aggrieved party to leak the nudes of another user and other users prevail upon such classified information like it’s actually reasonable for them to. Then the shaming follows,it really is a cycle so crazy
Having witnessed various unclad leaks/drops on twitter I have formed various opinions on this crucial issue. First things first, just don’t if you don’t have the balls basically because everything bad can trail a unclad photo, from it being leaked by a sick person to putting the person in the firing line for s*xual harassment or exploitation.
Secondly, it is classified data, the state department of defence does not go about sharing information with or allies based on perceived trust, the loyalty and trust must be sound with whoever you decide to share your pictures with, but really people are hardly trusted with stuff like that.
And for those of us that will still send because we’re bad like that, the need for safety cannot be over emphasized, you can share nudes without putting your face in picture *wink*and thank me later.
