Will President Buhari Save Hope Uzodinma from Removal? (OPINION)

There have been serious political speculations, since the visit of Imo State governor, Hope Uzodinma to President Muhammadu Buhari, whether the President will interfere with the outcome of the upcoming suit by the RAP governorship candidate, Barr. Kingdom Okere, demanding an interpretation of the Supreme Court verdict which stated that Uche Nwosu, son-inlaw to former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, was actually the authentic candidate of both the APC and the AA in the 2019 General Election.

The death of Abba Kyari, had hit Uzodinma off guard, and when the suit came up, Uzodinma became a frequent visitor to Abuja in an attempt to meet the President but with no luck, since his Man Friday was no more.

Uzodinma pitched his tent with the junior Minister for Education, Hon Emeka Nwajiuba. Nwajiuba's relationship with Buhari, goes back to their CPC days, and he is believed to be the closest person in the South East to the President. Uzodinma was also fortunate that he could deliver something Nwajiuba wanted, which amongst others things, included installing his aide Frank Ibezim as Senator.

Probably as a sign of good fate of things to come, a meeting between Uzodinma and Buhari was arranged.

Since then, Uzodinma have become more confident. He has become more brazen in his desire to execute the orders of his new messiah, Nwajiuba, and perfecting his publicly confessed Ben Johnson way, (video includes below), delivered the goods by getting an unknown Frank Ibezim to be announced the APC candidate for Okigwe Senate bye-election, despite widespread dissatisfaction in the party over the action.

Watcher are now wondering, if Uzodinma's confidence stems from a foreknowledge he has of what will happen to the RAP suit.

Will the President intervene? Will he step down from his claims of anti-corruption, and interfer with the judgement?

In a country, where criminality seems to be legitimized even by people held in high regards, fears for the freedom of the judiciary over the RAP case is being expressed in many concerned quarters.

In a case as straightforward as this, the world is paying keen interest to see if the Supreme Court of Nigeria will ridicule the Nigerian Judicial system because of one person, or if they will raise up to their duties to the nation as an independent arm of the government, something Nigerians today now have serious doubts about.
