Man Has Maggot Pulled Out of his Eyeball (Photo)

This is totally not for the lily-livered. An eye-watering clip, uploaded on YouTube by Doctor Plus, shows a close up of a patient's eye as a maggot is pulled out of it.

The maggot can be seen as the surgeon pulled it out of the man's eyeball.

The maggot, which is usually around one centimetre in length, feeds off human flesh. Experts say if left untreated, it can lead to infection in the eyes, could cause meningitis and even death.

According to The Mirror, Surgery of this type to remove insects is performed in extreme cases such as this one. Doctors have warned people to take proper care of their eyes to avoid one's eyes deteriorating to this level.
