I’ve been vindicated – Teacher accused of molesting Queen’s College student

Olaseni Osifala

The teacher, who was accused of sexually harassing a female student of Queen’s College, Yaba, Lagos, Mr. Olaseni Osifala, says he has been vindicated.
This was just as the Ministry of Education said the investigative panel into an alleged sexual molestation on the female student could not establish any evidence to indict the accused teacher.
The Ministry of Education on Friday said, “The Investigation Committee did not establish any credible evidence against the accused teacher, considering the fact that Mrs Chinenye Okoye remained unidentified, faceless and inaccessible despite the Committee’s best efforts and assurances to protect her identity and that of her daughter.
“Consequently, the Investigation Committee finds it difficult to recommend disciplinary action against the accused teacher as the complainant failed to come forward to prove this weighty accusation.
“The Committee could not establish any cover up of sexual molestation by the management of Queens College.
“The Federal Ministry of Education notes and accepts all the recommendations of the Committee and will take actions as appropriate.”
Osifala was alleged to be molesting the unnamed junior secondary school II girl who reportedly screamed and was rescued by some of the girls and consequently. The Parent-Teacher Association, PTA, of the school and the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Anthony Anwukah, had on March 22, constituted a panel to investigate the case.
Speaking with New Telegraph on Saturday, Osifala, who had blamed his ordeal on perceived enemies and had said he believed it was coming from those not satisfied with his rising profile in the college, described the experience while the whole matter lasted as sad and unfortunate.
Osifala thanked those who stood by him while revealing that he would never make any enemy over the incident.
He said his pupils would continue to remain his treasure and that he would continue to offer his best as a teacher.
“I am happy that I have been vindicated by the report of the panel.
“It was a terrible experience while it lasted but I believe in the words of God that, ‘without tests, there cannot be testimony.’
“Today, I am glad I have been tested and have come out victorious,” Osifala added.
