Ikpea is widely seen as one of Obaseki’s strongmen.

He resigned his appointment today based on claims he cannot in good conscience continue to work against the party that gave him great relevance All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ikpea stated in part in his resignation letter dated September 9, 2020 ‘’ ‘Politics is all about interest, trust and respect for one another, but I have never seen any of this till date, and I am also not sure of it even if I am there tomorrow.

‘’Moreover, the party that is known today as APC was brought to Esan South East by me and over 90 percent of my supporters are APC members till date.

‘‘So, it is difficult for me to leave the house that I built. Considering also that this administration didn’t recognise my leadership role..’’

Many see this as a major blow on the heels of the damning tell it all interview by Obaseki’s estranged confidante Billionaire Hosa Okunbo.

‘’They opposition are being handed points to inflict perception damage on Obaseki just days to the election’’ Societynow.ng learned.

The gubernatorial election – that determines whether Obaseki gets another term in office or not – is scheduled for Saturday, September 19.

Governor Obaseki who was elected on the platform of the APC is seeking re-election on the wings of the opposition party People’s Democratic Party(PDP).

Obaseki defected to the PDP over the inability to retain the APC gubernatorial ticket as a result of a raging political battle with his mentor Adams Oshiomhole.

Obaseki has vowed to trounce the APC and Oshiomhole in the gubernatorial election scheduled for Saturday, September 18.

Oshiomhole has vowed to send Obaseki to political oblivion with the results of the election.
