Miyetti Allah reacts to the killing of Benue notorious gang leader by the Nigerian Army
The killing of a notorious benue gang leader, Tarwase Akwase who is popularly known simply as "Gana" by the Nigerian army on Tuesday continues to spark reaction from Nigerians. According to reliable sources, the late gang leader has surrendered himself to the Nigerian army but instead of handing him over to court for trial, the army decided to kill him.
The issue continue to cause some controversies in the country with some people citing that if Boko Haram militants can be rehabilitated, why not Gana. However, the Fulani apex socio-cultural group, Miyetti Allah, has louded the Nigerian Army for killing the gang leader. In his reaction to the development yesterday in Abuja, the Miyetti Allah National Chairman, Alhaji Bodejo Bello described the killing of Gana as a great achievement for the Nigerian Army and the Benue state in General.
According to him, this development has shown that Fulani people are not responsible for criminal activities in the state and its sorrounding hence the killing of Gana has vindicated them. He urged the Nigerian Army to fishout other members of his gang so that peace can reign in the state. Alhaji Bodejo however stated that they are not happy by the way he died at the hands of the Nigerian Army, they should have taken him to court for trial first.
He added that this development will undoubtedly, correct a lot of things in Benue State and beyond. It will particularly strengthen the good image and reputation of Fulani herders in Benue state and beyond, because, before now, all the violence in the state is usually attributed to Fulani people even when they are not the culprits.
