He Made Millions From ' The God's Most Be Crazy' Sequel But Died In The Woods.

In the world of filmography, thousands of movies have been released worldwide since the discovery of this form of entertainment up to date.

Among those thousands, very few have been able to withstand the test of time and remain entertaining years after their release.

The 20th century thrilling African comedy sequel called 'The Gods Must Be Crazy' and particularly its first movie released in 1980 is perhaps one of those few movies that've never faded.

Even after watching it tens of times in my childhood, I find the movie one of the best that I keep watching it over and over again in my adulthood sometimes with the kids and each time is always as entertaining as the first time.

One particular character in the movie that I bet has been the favourite of many over the years is the bushman Xixo who went through thick and thin while taking the evil thing that had fallen from the sky and plunged his family into misery to the edge of the world.

But did you know that Xixo's real name was N!xau Toma, he was a bushman from Namibia and died 17 years ago?

Yes, this innocent, humble, witty and ever smiling favorite star of ours was taken away by cruel death on July 2nd 2003 while in his home country of Namibia breaking the hearts of many who loved him.

According to a New York Times report whose link I've shared below, N!xiau met his death while in the woods after contracting a resistant strain of Tuberculosis in his home country where he had returned to settle in a modern lifestyle after a successful career in acting that saw him make a good fortune.

Then talking of earning from acting, it's been reported widely that N!xau was paid $300 from 'The Gods Must Be Crazy' movie of 1980 (which converts to over Ksh 30,000) but he later threw all the cash he was given away just like how he did after being paid for helping capture Sambokha in a scene in the movie because he didn't understand it's value.

Over time and with exposure to the modern world, N!xau must have been enlightened on the value of money because it's been reported that he earned around $500,000 (Ksh 50 Million) from the subsequent movies of 'The Gods Must Be Crazy' sequel like its 1989 second movie and the 1994 'The Gods Must Be Funny' which took him to Hong Kong.

At home, N!xau is said to have used the money to build himself a brick house, venture into farming and buy a car for which he hired a driver to be riding him because he couldn't do the same.
