Edo Violence: Prime Suspect In Attack On PDP Allegedly Released By Police, Family Protest
The prime suspect of the gang that attacked a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Isa Ja Usman and some members of the party recently in Auchi, who was arrested on Tuesday has been alleged to have been left off the hook, The Gazelle News.com reports.
According to reports, the suspect, Salami Abibu was allegedly picked up on Tuesday and handed over to the police at Agbede police station. The station officials allegedly handed him over to the Auchi Area Command headed by Ms. Oki Rita Emesim.
The suspect was alleged to have been released by the Auchi Police Area Command.
This has created tension in Auchi and its surrounding communities and the family members of the victims of the attack have vowed to ensure that the matter is not swept under the carpet.
A relative of Usman and first daughter of the late Oba M. S. Momodu, Mrs Miriam Ohanmu told journalists that the assault on members of her family and community will not be allowed to be swept under the carpet.
“We will ensure that the perpetrators of the crime, no matter how highly they or their backers are, face the full wrath of the law,” she said.
