Come out en masse and vote for PDP, President Buhari has assured me that Edo election will be peaceful - Obaseki tells voters
Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has called on voters to come out en masse on September 19, 2020 and vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Obaseki who is the candidate of the PDP in the forthcoming Edo Governorship Election, urged voters to exercise their franchise without fear of harrassment or intimidation, saying that President Muhammadu Buhari has assured him of a free, credible and peaceful election in Edo State.
“President Buhari has assured me that the Edo election will be peaceful. There will be peace in Edo; don’t be intimidated by the opposition, before, during and after the election,” the governor said while addressing party faithful during his reelection campaign rally in Ovia South West Local Government Area of the state.
“They are not more than us in number; vote and make sure your vote counts. Stay back in your polling units to ensure they count your vote in your present,” he added.
His predecessor, Adams Oshiomhole, who was also the immediate past National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), had vowed to ensure that Obaseki does not emerge winner in the forthcoming poll .
First he ensured his disqualification from contesting the APC primary election . Then, after his sack from office as APC Chairman, he returned to Edo, with the mandate of ensuring Obaseki was defeated in the poll.
No doubt, the outcome of the forthcoming election in the state would determine the relevance of Oshiomhole in politics.
Oshiomhole has been kicked out from the national level, now he must win his state to remain relevant in politics Governor Nyesom Wike said , adding that losing Edo State would be the end of his (Oshiomhole) political career.
